Welcome to Bromley Valley Gymnastics

Bromley Valley’s Jets Display Team chosen to represent the Continent of Europe
Club news

The Jets display team was formed over 20 years ago and has built up a reputation for dazzling displays which rival any West End show. Sarah Welch, who choreographs the routines, uses her own dance background, to create the breathtaking displays which include amazing gymnastics and fantastic dance.

In June 2009, the Jets have been invited to represent the Europe in Denmark* and Norway, where they will put on 3 shows. One of Jet’s gymnasts commented “we are honoured to represent Europe at this event and look forward to seeing the other teams from across the world.”

Head coach Barbara MacDuff reflected on the club’s strong performance “ Bromley Valley is a large club with over 500 gymnasts and the display team includes gymnasts across all the disciplines at Bromley Valley – Tumbling, Acro, Artistic and Coaching. The Jets have an awe inspiring reputation, which with Sarah’s expert coaching, we expect to continue in Denmark and beyond”.

*The Jets’ accommodation and internal travel costs are being met by the Norwegian and Danish Gymnastic Federations.

Bromley Valley Acrobats leap for glory
Club news

The past month has seen Bromley Valley gymnasts competing at an extremely high level, with successful results both at International and National Competitions.

The club represented The London Region and England at the 3rd International Acrobatics Competition in Samokov Bulgaria. Other Bromley Valley Gymnasts, meanwhile, have been busy competing at the UK National Acrobatics and Tumbling Finals, at Fenton Manor, Stoke on Trent.

The Bulgarian competition showcased gymnasts from across the world. Bromley Valley sent two Mixed Pairs and one Women’s Trio to the competition. Sarah Williams and Leon Fagbemi made their debut at Senior level, the other pair competing 11 to 16 Age Groups, whilst the Women’s Trio, Ciara Conway, Jessica Nicol-Smith and Sophie Jones competed Juniors.

All the gymnasts performed well; In particular our Age Group Mixed Pair Dominic Smith and Becky Neal, also representing England at the event, performed with breathtaking grace and near perfect execution. The Pair brought home two silver and a bronze medal, only tenths of a mark away from Gold. Their Coach Sarah Welch commented “Becky and Dominic have worked very hard for several years and their perseverance and dedication really shows. I am very proud of them.”

Ventsei Genov who led the team at the event said he was delighted to see so many Bromley Valley gymnasts in Bulgaria who all were a credit to the club.

In the same weekend Andy MacDuff was at the UK National finals coaching the teams who had earned a place after winning their category at a London Regional

Competition in March. Bromley Valley had a National Grade 3 Women’s Pair, Tory Nicol-Smith and Amber Hawkins and a Grade 1 Men’s Pair David Scott and Isaac Butler. This event is always a highlight of the Acrobatic Gymnastics Calendar and features such a high calibre of gymnastic skill and ability.

Head coach Barbara MacDuff reflected on the club’s recent successes “ Bromley Valley is a large club with over 500 gymnasts and the results demonstrate just one element of the club’s success and depth of talent. We look the club’s future and the coming display day on 21 June 2009.”
